We get so wrapped up and focused on the readings of our bathroom scales when we start our fitness journey, that we lose sight of what is important. It’s soooooo much better to be strong than skinny. Strong, toned, feminine beautiful curves over a skinny soft body wins every time for me but above all this, the most important thing is to be healthy and to have a healthy relationship with food.
Weighing yourself constantly and then making daily adjustments to your diet based on the numbers your scales show you, is a recipe for disaster. It will slow your metabolism, start a cycle of yo yo dieting and self loathing.
I am not saying ditch the scales but don’t be a slave to them. Focus more on how your clothes fit and how the inches you are losing. I encourage all my clients to track their journey with photographs. I still use this method for myself, although this has, on occasion, caused some awkward and rather embarrassing moments when showing friends cute pics of Castro and there I am in my undies!
It does however, serve as a great indicator to the progress and changes made.
